On June 14, 2026, the China Higher Education Exhibition — hosted by the China Scholarship Council — was successfully held at the Aston Kartika Grogol Hotel in Jakarta. Representatives from 35 renowned Chinese universities and key figures from the Indonesian education sector gathered to discuss cooperation in higher education and talent cultivation, building an important platform for deepening educational exchanges between China and Indonesia.
PT Tritunggal Anugerah Abadi (TAA) was present at the opening ceremony alongside Chen Wu, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia; Zhang Jun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Scholarship Council; Ariawan Gunadi, Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation.
A Bridge Between Two Nations
In his opening address, Chen Wu noted that although China and Indonesia are separated by sea, the two countries share a common cultural heritage and a long history of friendly exchanges. Under the strategic guidance of both heads of state, the comprehensive strategic partnership has continuously deepened, with education and cultural exchanges demonstrating growing vitality.
More than 15,000 Indonesian students have studied in China. They are not only seekers of knowledge but also inheritors of friendship and promoters of bilateral cooperation. Chen Wu emphasized that this exhibition brings together universities covering science and engineering, medicine, humanities, and social sciences — fully showcasing the high-quality resources and diversified achievements of Chinese higher education.

35 Universities, One Shared Goal
The exhibition featured Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Tsinghua University, Guilin Medical University, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and many more. Through booth displays, admissions consultations, and on-site exchanges, each institution introduced school characteristics, advantageous majors, scholarship programs, and application procedures to Indonesian students and parents.
The hall was crowded and the atmosphere warm. Many students and parents actively engaged with university representatives, showing strong interest in teaching quality, research strength, and internationalization. The event concluded successfully at 3:00 PM, further promoting Sino-Indonesian educational cooperation and cultivating graduates with international perspectives for both nations.
Student Voices: Dreams of Studying in China
Jeska, from Cirebon, West Java, browsed the exhibition for more than two hours with a thick stack of admissions brochures in her arms. "I want to go to university in China and study Traditional Chinese Medicine," she told reporters, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Mishka from Pontianak, West Kalimantan, stopped in front of the Beijing Foreign Studies University booth for a long time. After graduating from the Confucius Institute at Tanjungpura University in 2018, she joined a Chinese company in Indonesia. "Learning Chinese helped me find a good job, but the longer we spent together, the deeper my desire for Chinese culture became," she said. Having studied Chinese for ten years, she now hopes to use language as a bridge to pursue deeper knowledge in China.

Planning Early, Dreaming Big
The enthusiasm for studying in China is showing a trend toward younger ages and early planning. Li Weiming, a teacher at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, observed that many first-year high school students who came for consultation showed great interest in language requirements and major options. "Many Indonesian students start planning their studies very early, preparing academically and personally in advance," he noted.
Excellent teaching quality and strong employment prospects remain key reasons why "going to school in China" is increasingly attractive. As economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia deepen, Mandarin has become a valuable skill in the workplace for young Indonesians.
